Thursday Morning, November 28, 1918 FRANCISCAN BROTHER DIES AT LORETTO Brother Ignatius, whose name before entering the Franciscan order was John Jay O'Brien, died very suddenly at 5.30 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Francis college, Loretto, where he had been a teacher for the past thirty years. He was 66 years of age. He had arisen at his usual hour and was leaving his room to go to the chapel for morning devotions when he was fatally stricken, expiring immediately. Heart failure was the cause of his death. Brother Ignatius was a native of Philadelphia, where his father was at one time a distinguished architect. He entered the Franciscan order when a young man, but preferring to devote his life to teaching, he was never elevated to the priesthood. He had a host of friends among the alumni of St. Francis college, where he taught in the High school, and among whom he was always very popular. He is survived by a brother and two sisters in Philadelphia, one of the latter being Sister Mary Rose of St. Gregory's convent. The funeral will take place on Friday morning at 9 o'clock at the college at Loretto, where interment will be made.
