Friday, 20 Oct 1905 Volume 39, Number 40 Died at the Almshouse Dennis O'Leary, a former resident of Minersville, died of cancer Friday morning at the Cambria County Poor House, aged 76 years. The deceased has no living relatives as far as known and his remains will be interred in the cemetery on the Poor Farm unless friends provide otherwise. Dennis O'Leary came to this county from Ireland in 1848. After working in various places he settled down in Somerset county where it is said he was married to a German lady and at one time owned a farm. Coming to Johnstown in the '70s, O'Leary bought coal and other teams out and did considerable business. Later reverses came, his wife and children died; and May 25, 1897, he was taken to the Almshouse. Rheumatism had crippled him up so badly that he could no longer work at the Ebensburg Institution and he was compelled to use two canes in walking about.
