Mrs. Parrish Dead 

After an illness of some time, Mrs. Mary Parrish of Julian 
Street, died at 3 o'clock last Friday afternoon at the age 
of 85 years. Her husband is about the same age.  Mr. and 
Mrs. Parrish were the oldest couple in the county seat.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Myers, was born on 
a farm in Munster Township, being the daughter of the late 
John and Ann Myers.  She was the last survivor of that 
family.

About 58 years ago the deceased was married to J. D. 
Parrish of Ebensburg.  Squire Parish had erected a home 
prior to his wedding at the corner of Julian and Crawford 
Streets and there he took his bride. Ever since that time, 
for almost two-thirds of a century, the Parrish family had 
lived in the same residence. The death of Mrs. Parrish last 
Friday was the first that ever occurred in the house.

Mrs. Parrish is survived by the following children:  E. C. 
Parrish, the Ebensburg grocer; C. M. Parrish of Bellefonte, 
a druggist and John S. Parrish of Pittsburg, a real estate 
man and Miss Floy Parrish, at home.  J. S. Parrish, with 
his wife, arrived in Ebensburg fifteen minutes after his 
mother died.

J. D. Parrish, husband of the deceased, is the only 
survivor in this vicinity of the old Cambria Guards, a 
company which went from Cambria County for service in 
Mexico in the late 40's.  Squire Parrish, as he is 
familiarly known, was the first man over the wall at 
Chapultepec.

The funeral was held at 10:30 o'clock [word missing] 
morning at the church of the Holy Name. The pastor, Rev. 
Father H. M. O'Neil, celebrated a requiem high mass and 
interment was in the old Catholic cemetery opposite the 
church edifice.

The following were the pallbearers:  A. W. Buck, P. J. 
Little, F. J. Hartmann, Philip N. Shettig, F. C. Sharbaugh, 
D. A. McGough, Dr. Clark Creery, G. H. Barker, F. C. Lloyd, 
J. F. McKenrick, A. E. Bender and T. B. O'Hara.

Quite a number of relatives and friends from out of town 
attended the funeral services.
