Pitts is Dead Well Known Cherrytree Citizen Passed Away Sunday Morning Cherrytree, Oct. 6 -- The death of Benjamin F. Pitts of this place, which occurred last Sunday morning, removed one of the pioneer merchants and lumber dealers of this place. The deceased, who was slightly over eighty years of age, had been seriously ill with typhoid fever for about a month. Always a resident of Cherrytree, Mr. Pitts was one of the active organizers of the place and took a leading part in church and business life. The deceased is survived by these sons and daughters: William of West Virginia; Mrs. Price Davis of Cherrytree; and Frank, Anna and Bessie, at home, the latter being a teacher in the Cherrytree schools. The funeral services were held at the Pitts home Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. Wake of Barnesboro. Interment was made in Odd Fellows' Cemetery.
