(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: July 13, 1871 Died, at his residence, in this place, on Tuesday last, July 11th, Mr. David H. Roberts, aged 71 years. The father of the deceased, Mr. Hugh Roberts, a native of Wales, settled in this place in the year 1796, and built a log cabin a short distance south of where Crawford's hotel now stands, and there it was the subject of this sketch was born, being the first male child born within the present limits 0f Ebensburg borough. Mr. R. was a carpenter by trade, but for many years held the office of Justice of the Peace. He was a man of strong natural intellect and sound judgment, and in all the pursuits and duties of life he was above reproach. Being strictly upright and honest, he enjoyed, as he deserved, the good will of all who knew him. His three sons, Messrs. C. T. and. I. N. Roberts, of this place, and H. J. Roberts, of Johnstown, are among the most reputable and enterprising citizens of our county - "worthy scions of a noble stock." The remains of deceased were interred at Lloyd's cemetery, near town, on Wednesday afternoon; a large concourse of people participating in the funeral.
