Thursday, July 31, 1862 Volume 3, Number 45 Soldier Dead We are sorry to learn that Mr. George J. Roberts of Co. A, 11th Penna. Reserves, died in a hospital in Rhode Island last Tuesday after a painful and protracted illness. He joined the company as a private upon the occasion of its removal from Camp Wright to Virginia - a little over a year ago - and shortly after was promoted to 3d corporal. He possessed in an eminent degree the affections of this fellow soldiers and his loss will be deeply deplored by his many friends at home. Let his epitaph be: He did his duty to his country. The deceased was a son of Mr. John E. Roberts of Cambria township, residing about four miles from town. His age was about 21 years.
