All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/cambria/ ________________________________________________ Greensburg Tribune Greensburg, PA 17 Apr 2006 SISTER MARY FABIAN RODGERS Sister Mary Fabian Rodgers, S.C., 90, died suddenly Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Caritas Christi, the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, Greensburg. A native of Johnstown, Sister Mary Fabian entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1933, from St. Patrick Parish in Johnstown. Preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Mary Annette (Eckenrod) Rodgers; three brothers, Kenneth W., Harold H., Cyril E., and two sisters, Mrs. Richard L. (Kathleen) Campbell and Eileen Rodgers, and she is survived by nieces and nephews. Sister Mary Fabian earned a bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University and taught students of the junior and senior high level in diocesan schools of Greensburg and Pittsburgh. Her longest tenure was at Sacred Heart elementary and high school in Shadyside, where she taught from 1957 until 1982. During the summer of 1986, Sister Mary Fabian was an instructor in education at Seton Hill University. Sister Mary Fabian continued to volunteer her services at Caritas Christi and she enjoyed using the computer to keep in touch with a number of her former students. Encumbered by physical disabilities for a number of years, Sister Mary Fabian believed, as did St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, "The affliction of this life is but a moment, while the glory in the life to come will be eternal." Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at CARITAS CHRISTI, 459 Mt. Thor Road, Greensburg. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Assumption at Caritas Christi. Burial will be in the Sisters' Cemetery, Seton Hill, Greensburg.
