Mr. Rodgers was born September 20, 1916 in Glasgow, Pa. He married Eleanor Hoover on October 7, 1947. He was a 1935 graduate of Tyrone High School and served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII. Mr. Rodgers moved to Hyattsville, Maryland where he lived for 36 years. He first worked as a mechanic for the WMA Transit Company and he later worked for and retired from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority in 1981. He moved to the Punxsutawney area and lived in Big Run for 15 years. He was a member of the Paradise Church of Christ. He loved his family and enjoyed working on cars and playing checkers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor, two daughters: Jenny White and her husband Roger of Crownsville, Maryland and Linda Quay of Frederick, Maryland; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Anna Stewart and her husband Glen of Buffalo, NY. Funeral services were held at the Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills, Maryland on January 14 with the Rev. Barry Filman from Paradise Church of Christ officiating.
