Friday, 2 Nov 1906 Volume 40, Number 44 Richard Rowland Richard Rowland, one of the oldest residents of this place, was found dead in bed at his home on Horner street at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning by his son, Marshall Rowland, aged eighty-two years. Richard Rowland had been in feeble health for a long time but was able to be about as usual. During the night his son, Marshall, said he dreamed that his parent had died and went to his bedside at 3 o'clock when he learned he was mistaken. When the son went to call his father three hours later he discovered his dream had come true. The cause of his death was heart failure. Richard Rowland was a lifelong farmer, having spent many years in the vicinity of Vetera, this county, before locating in this place. He was married twice, both wives having been dead for many years. He is survived by the following sons: Marshall and Leighton, both of this place; Wm. R. of Cambria township and Harry who resides in Missouri. Miss Sarah Jane Thomas, a stepdaughter of Richard Rowland, has made her home with him for a number of years. The funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon when his pastor, the Rev. W. Bryn Jones of the Calvinist Methodist church, will conduct the obsequies. The remains will be laid to rest in the Herman cemetery along the Carrolltown road.
