All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/cambria/ ________________________________________________ Archie Claar Obit Collection vol. 15 page 2 August 11, 1939 ROBERT RUSSELL, 49, MOXHAM RESIDENT, DIES IN MARYLAND Robert Russell, 49, of 654 Cypress Avenue, Moxham, a World War veteran, died unexpectedly at 6:30 o'clock yesterday morning while visiting at the home of a friend, Walter L. Green of Lonaconing, Md. Death was attributed to a heart ailment Mr. Russell had been visiting with friends and relatives in Maryland and Thursday night went to the home of Walter L. Green. He fell dead shortly after arising yesterday morning. During the World War Mr. Russell served as a member of the U. S. Marines. He saw active service in France. He enlisted in Cumberland, Md., July 17, 1917, and was honorably discharged December 23, 1923. Mr. Russell was employed as a millhand in the Lorain division of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation. He also was a member of the Goodfellowship Club at the mill. He was a member of Grove Avenue Methodist Church. Mr. Russell also was affliated with Menoher Post 155, V. F. W. Born in Johnstown Robert Russell was a son of Isaac and Grace (Emerson) Russell. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louise Blanche (Walker) Russell, and two children, Grce Nellie and Robert Russell, Jr., both at home. He was a brother of Stephen and William Russell, both of Nanty Glo, and Allen Russell, residing in the State of Michigan. He also leaves two half-brothers, David Russell, Frostburg, Md., and Joseph Russell, Nanty glo, and a half-sister, Mrs. Walter Cutter, Lonaconing, Md. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Russell home by Rev. George R. Haden, pastor of Grove Avenue Methodist Church. Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by Carl E. Davis of Connaugh.
