(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: March 18, 1871 At the residence of his step-grandfather, Mr. John Quayle, at Summitville, in this county, on Sunday last, the 12th inst., James S. Smith, Esq., aged about 24 years. The deceased was the eldest son of Mr. Mich'l. J. Smith, for many years a resident of Summitville and Gallitzin, this county, but now a citizen of Keokuk, Iowa... Being the son of an Irishman, and inheriting all his father's love and devotion to the land of eloquence and song, he became an enthusiastic, but of course a mistaken advocate of the cause of Fenianism... He was on that high road to success and fortune, when that fell destroyer, consumption, marked him as a victim...
