KILLED ON THE RAILROAD

The badly mangled body of a foreigner named George Skacs was found on 
the railroad near the freight station at Spangler at about 9 o'clock 
Thursday evening of last week.  Investigation showed that the skull of 
the unfortunate had been torn open and emptied of the brain, the left 
arm was almost severed from the body, the right foot ground off and 
numerous ugly cuts had been sustained on the body.  Death must have 
been instantaneous.

It is thought that Skacs was intoxicated and was sitting or lying on 
the track and was struck by the evening passenger train.

The deceased was a native of Austria Hungary and was about 35 years 
of age.  He was employed as a miner at Sterling mine No. 18, south of 
Spangler.  He leaves a wife in the old country, who was to have joined 
him here in a few days.
