Monday Morning, February 19, 1917 JAMES A. SMITH. James A. Smith, brother of the Rev. Fathers Thomas P. Smith and Matthew Smith, respectively rector and assistant rector of Sacred Heart Catholic church, this city, died at his home in Johnstown at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon after a long illness due to a complication of diseases. He was born at Gallitzin 58 years ago. The local priests were summoned to their brother's bedside Saturday morning. The deceased was a prominent wholesale liquor dealer at Cresson. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Farrell Smith, survives, with three sisters, Mrs. James H. Plummer, of Johnstown, and Mrs. William Quinn and Miss Elizabeth, both of this city, and his twin brothers, the local priests mentioned. Another brother, Edward Smith, died in this city last year. Funeral services will be announced later.
