James A. Stevens, of Gallitzin, Victim of an Accident. James A. Stevens, of Gallitzin, a car inspector employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, was fatally injured at the Glen White siding at Kittanning point about 10.20 o'clock Saturday morning. The unfortunate man had boarded a moving freight train near a switch and was standing on the stirrup. He failed to notice a car standing on the siding. The car on which he was riding cleared the car, but Stevens was caught and rolled between the cars. He dropped between the tracks and fortunately did not fall on the rails to be mangled by the wheels. Foreman Henessy, who was standing near, saw the accident and hurried to Stewart's assistance. He raised the injured man in his arms, but before needed assistance arrived he expired. The remains were brought to this city on day express and prepared for burial by Undertaker Lafferty. They were sent to his home in Gallitzin yesterday. Coroner McCartney was notified, and after an investigation decided an inquest unnecessary. James A. Stevens was born near Loretto, Cambria county, and was aged 42 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, of Gallitzin, and was highly esteemed by the residents of that place. He is survived by his wife.
