Friday, 8 Nov 1907 Volume 41, Number 44 Brakeman Killed at Gallitzin Chester R. Straw, a brakeman on the Pittsburg division of the PRR, was run down by a passenger train just east of Gallitzin early Sunday morning and instantly killed. The remains were taken to Altoona from which place they were removed to Julian, Center county, where the young man had resided and where burial was made Tuesday afternoon. Straw, who was 18 years of age, started west Sunday morning with a train which stopped at the tower near Gallitzin to give right-of-way to other trains. He got in the way of one of the fast freights and his right leg was severed above the knee, the lower part being torn to shreds. His left leg was also broken in several places.
