William E. Strayer, the Victim of a Railroad Accident. William E. Strayer, aged 25 years, was instantly killed about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, at Cresson, by being struck by a water train. Strayer was employed as a section hand under John G. Wandroth's force and was at work when the accident happened. A freight train was passing at the time and Strayer did not notice the water train, which was backing down the west-bound track, until it was upon him. He was knocked down by the cabin, which, together with the tank cars and the engine, passed over him. The body was rolled along under the train for a considerable distance, and when picked up was horribly mangled. The remains were placed on ? express, brought to Altoona, and turned over to Undertaker Lafferty. They were prepared for burial and today were sent to his home at Summit, Cambria county. Deceased leaves a wife and several small children to mourn his sad death. His parents reside at Clevesburg, near Shippensburg, Cumberland county.
