SUTCH Of 2518 Seventh avenue, retired machinist and former baseball pitcher, died at his home at 7;25 o'clock last evening after several weeks of illness. He was born on April 13, 1879, at New Bloomfield, a son of Irvin and Ellen (Esterline) Sutch, and retired form the railroad company service on March 1, 1939, after forty years of employment. Mr. Sutch was on of the leading baseball players in Altoona in the late 1890's rated by fans as one of the best ever produced by the city. he was known to strike out twenty-three consecutive batters in nine -inning games in Altoona and had played professional ball with the Southern, The State, and the Tri-State leagues. Mr. Sutch was an all around athlete, participating in boxing and football and able to play any baseball position. Surviving are his wife , Mrs. Rose (Kearney) Sutch, one son and one daughter, Elwood of Springdale and Ruth of Johnstown, and two grandchildren. Mr. Sutch was of the Baptist Faith and a member of The Elks. Friends will be received at the home after 7 o'clock this evening.
