He was in his eighty third year, and the cause of death was general debility. George Trent was born near Friedens, Somerset County, on April 23, 1819, being the son of James and Catherine Trent. He was married to Miss Lydia Long in Somerset County in 1839, and in 1853 they came to Johnstown to make their home. Mr. Trent was employed by the Cambria Iron Company for many years, retiring eight years ago on account of his advanced age. The deceased is survived by his wife, who has several sisters living in Somerset County, and by two daughters - Sarah, wife of Herman Coleman, of the South Side, and Mary, wife of William H. Levergood of Levergood Street. Two daughters are dead - Mrs. Kate Jones, who died in Somerset, and Mrs. Jane McClellan, who was drowned in the Great Flood. The funeral took place at 3:00 Wednesday afternoon when the Rev. Dr. William Alfred Shipman, pastor of the First English Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a member, conducted the services. Interment was made in Grand View Cemetery.
