Friday, 31 Mar 1905 Volume 39, Number 12 Patton Man Found Dead The body of Thomas Turnball, a coal miner of Patton, was discovered Sunday about 3:30 o'clock p.m. at the small dam near the McKee avenue bridge at that place. The body was so tightly wedged in between the embankment and the wooden sluice running from the dam towards the bridge that it was necessary to tear out some of the planking. Turnball left a hotel about 8:30 Saturday evening and was not seen afterwards until his body was found. Turnball was about 50 years of age and was intemperate in his habits and it is evident that in making his way to his home on Beech avenue, he fell from the embankment some thirty feet and rolled under a wooden conduit. It is possible that his head struck the sluice and stunned or rendered him insensible. When found the water was pouring into his mouth. The body laid in the mud several hours Sunday before anyone could be found to authorize its removal. Undertaker Greniger took charge of the remains.
