(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: June 02, 1870 At St. Augustine, Cambria county, Pa., on May 10th, 1870, Mary, wife of Stanislaus Wharton, in the 77th year of her age. The deceased was a native of Emmitsburg, Md., and came to the Allegheny Mountains in 1807. For several years she was an inmate of the household of the venerable Prince Gallitzin, by whom she was nurtured in those sentiments of Christian piety which marked the course of her useful life. She and her husband were among the early settlers at the Loop, now St. Augustine. Their union was blessed by a numerous offspring, and her mortal remains were followed to the grave by her children's children to the fourth generation. The funeral took place on May 12th, from St. Augustine's church. During her brief mortal illness her patience and resignation were a striking proof that a blameless, pious life is the best preparation for a happy death. May she rest in peace.
