Friday, 3 Feb 1905 Volume 39, Number 4 Sylvester J. Weakland Sylvester J. Weakland, an old resident of Cambria county, died at the residence of his son-in-law and daughter, John and Jennie Conrad, near Chest Springs, Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 1905, aged 76 years. He was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting in the Co. K., Seventh Pennsylvania Cavalry. He was a member of an Altoona Post G. A. R. He is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Jennie Conrad of Chest Springs; Mrs. Moore of Harrisburg; Mrs. Blum of Coalport and the following sons: George, James and Ellsworth of East Pittsburg. His wife died about two year ago, she being a daughter of John Riffle, who died recently at Summit. After high mass by the Rev. Father McKenna, the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery connected with St. Monica's church, Chest Springs.
