Friday, 6 Oct 1905 Volume 39, Number 39 Woman Burned to Death Mrs. Margaret Wilcox of 214 Horrocks street, Johnstown, died Wednesday morning as the result of burns received Tuesday night. The unfortunate woman lived eight hours in great agony, dying at about 4 o'clock the following day. While Mrs. Wilcox was preparing for bed a lamp exploded, the blazing oil being thrown all over her clothing. Terrified she ran out into the air and when near a neighbor's house fell to the ground. The flames were quickly extinguished and Dr. Matthews summoned but little could be done for the unfortunate woman. She was terribly burned, her clothing being entirely burned away.
