Mrs. Margaret Woodley

Mrs. Margaret Woodley, who resided near Hastings, died at 
noon Thursday of last week of old age. She had attained the 
age of 72 years.  She was a native of France, but was 
brought to America when a babe by her parents, who located 
near Hastings when that section was nothing more than a 
wilderness and had lived there ever since. It was no 
uncommon thing in her young days for her to go out and 
drive bears away from the pig pen, so numerous and hungry 
was this specie of game.  She leaves one son and two 
daughters.  She is also survived by four sisters and two 
brothers, one of the brothers being John Schrode, a hotel 
keeper at Carrolltown. The funeral took place Monday 
morning at Hastings.
