Friday, 5 Apr 1907 Volume 41, Number 14 Will be Big Bend Event Coming Wedding of Miss Schwab and Mr. Barry Will be Attended by Many Prominent Guests One of the wedding events of the season will be that of Miss Gertrude Schwab, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Schwab of Loretto, and David Barry of Johnstown, which will be solemnized in St. Michael's Catholic church at Loretto next Wednesday morning. The contracting parties are widely known and the wedding will be attended by a large number of distinguished guests, among which will be Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Schwab of New York City, the former being a brother of the bride-to-be. Guests for the wedding are already beginning to arrive. Mr. Barry is the well known cashier of the First National Bank of Johnstown. The nuptials will be performed by the Rev. Father Ferdinand Kittell of the parish at Loretto. Altoona Mirror Altoona, Pa. Tuesday, April 9, 1907 MISS SCHWAB TO BE MARRIED. Miss Gertrude Schwab, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Schwab, of Loretto and sister of Charles M. Schwab, the steel magnate, will be married tomorrow morning to David Barry, of Johnstown, at St. Michaels church, at Loretto. The ceremony will be performed by John B. Barry, of Pittsburg, a brother of the bridegroom. It is reported that Charles M. Schwab will settle $2,000,000 upon his sister as a wedding gift. Cambria Freeman Ebensburg, Pa. Friday, 12 Apr 1907 Volume 41, Number 15 Barry-Schwab Nuptials at Loretto Wednesday Ceremony Was Marked by Quiet Impressiveness Guests Included Only Immediate Relatives of Contracting Pair Mass By Groom's Brother In the presence of only immediate members of the two families, with a ceremony impressive on account of its simplicity, Miss Gertrude deSales Schwab, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Schwab, of Loretto, and David Barry, of Johnstown, were united in marriage Wednesday morning. The ceremony was performed in St. Michael's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock. The nuptial high mass was sung by the Rev. John B. Barry of Pittsburg, a brother of the groom with the Rev. Father Martin Ryan of Pittsburg as deacon; the Rev. Ferdinand Kittell, pastor of St. Michael's as subdeacon and the Rev. Father Armour of St. Francis College, as master of ceremonies. Music for the occasion was furnished by the choir of St. Michael's Church; Mrs. Della M'Ateer presiding at the organ and rendering the Lohengrin and Mendelssohn wedding marches. The Offertory, "Ecce Deus Salvator Meus," by Clifton was sung by H. H. Myers of Ebensburg. At the conclusion of the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride and later in the day, the newly wedded pair went to Cresson, where at 2:37 they departed for a honeymoon trip to New York and the east in the private car of Charles M. Schwab, which had been placed at their disposal by the bride's brother. The maid of honor was Miss Edith McGorrity of Cleveland, the fiancée of Edward Schwab, one of the bride's brothers. The best man was Dr. P. A. McAneny of Johnstown. The bride was gowned in a princess creation of white marchioness veiling over white taffeta ruffled with chiffon and net. She wore a long white veil, with an aigrette in her hair and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and ferns. The maid of honor was dressed in pink mull over pink silk and wore a large picture hat of the same tint. In addition to the attendants, the guests included the following: Mr. and Mrs. John A. Schwab, parents of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Schwab and Joseph E. Schwab of New York; Edward Schwab of South Bend, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. P. F. McAneny of Johnstown; Misses Margaret, Ella and Kate Barry and Edward Barry of Johnstown. There was a large and very beautiful array of wedding gifts, including a chest of silver from Charles M. Schwab and a Tiffany lamp from Joseph E. Schwab. Mr. and Mrs. Barry will spend about two weeks on their wedding trip and on their return will reside in Johnstown.
