(Clearfield, Pa.) March 24, 1858 A little girl, daughter of Joseph Woods, Huston township, whilst kindling a fire, her clothes caught, her mother being from home, and her father in the barn. She ran for the assistance of the latter, and as soon as she got into the open air, the wind being high, she was completely enveloped in flames. Her father hearing her piercing cries ran to her assistance, and endeavored to tear the clothes from her, but not succeeding in this, he plunged her into a spring of water, and finally succeeded in extinguishing the flames. She lingered in excruciating pain until death put an end to her suffering. This happened on the 10th inst.
