Mrs. Susan Bodle, widow of John Bodle, died at her late home in Julian, Centre county, Saturday evening at 11 o'clock following an extended illness of cancer of the stomach. She was born at Martha Furnace, September 22, 1847, and was a daughter of Daniel and Esther Boyer. Her husband preceded her to the grave February 23, 1895. She was a kind and loving mother and a faithful attendant to the sick whenever called upon. It was never too much trouble for her to go at any hour and help those who were in need. She will be greatly missed here among her many friends. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons - James W., of Butler; George Edward, of Jersey Shore. Two brothers also survive - Samuel Boyer, of Julian, and Jerome Boyer, of Altoona City, janitor of the school building. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for years. The funeral will take place this morning at 9 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. J. Earl Jacobs. Interment to follow in the Martha cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Morning, December 5, 1916
