Frank Robert Harold Frank, 86, of State College, died Tuesday July 4, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. A memorial service at Faith United Church of Christ officiated by the Rev. Dr. Diane Prosser will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home in Mount Union. Mr. Frank was born September 6, 1919 in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, the son of the late Jay William Carroll and Nellie Grace (MeGaughey) Frank. He was married by Reverend Edgar Henry at First United Methodist Church on December 16, 1944 in Mount Union to the former Ruth Marie (Sue) Speck, who survives in State College. Mr. Frank is also survived by four sons; Geoffrey Bryan and wife Mary Ann of Alexandria, VA; Mark Timothy and wife Stephanie of Denver, CO; R. Drew and wife Jean of State College; and Brent Ashley and partner Steven Romig of Pleasant Gap, PA. Also surviving are grandsons Ethan Gorsuch Frank and fiancee Leann McCann of Newtown, PA; Wyeth Aulden Frank of State College; Bryan Stockford Frank of Alexandria, VA; Andrew Sterling Frank of Alexandria, VA; and a granddaughter, Gretchen Elizabeth Frank of Denver, CO. He is also survived by one sister, Claire Ann Drake of Huntingdon; brother-in-law, Edward Oser also of Huntingdon; and sister-in-law, Fae Frank of State College, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Frank is predeceased by brothers, Jay William Carroll Jr., John Carey, Glenn Roe, and sister Lois Oser. He graduated from Mount Union High School, class of 1939, where he served as Drum Major. Mr. Frank served state-side in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He attended both Temple University and Penn State. He worked at HRB Singer in State College from 1953 to 1970 and retired from Bendix Field Corporation in 1987. Earlier in life, Bob was known and sought after because of his solo tenor voice and vocal capabilities. Mr. Frank volunteered for many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 31 affiliated with St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College. He was a member of American Legion Post 245 and Faith United Church of Christ both in State College. He enjoyed spending time with his family, extended family, friends and pets. He enjoyed tennis, gardening, fishing, canoeing and traveling including annual trips to Cape Cod in later years. He and his wife regularly attended monthly class reunion luncheons with high school classmates. Mr. Frank will be remembered for his soft-spoken, loving, kind ways and his optimistic life attitude even when faced with debilitating health issues.
