Died at Murfreesboro, April 11th, Robert Gordon, aged 24 years and 4 months... He
was a native of Centre county, Pa., and a graduate of Jefferson College. When the
war broke out, his heart was on the side of his country, and he resolved to enter
the army; and when the  “Anderson Troop," which was composed of Pennsylvanians, and
for a time acted as body guard to Gen. Buell, had permission to enlarge their number
so as to form. a regiment, he became a member of that body of men afterwards known
as the Anderson Cavalry. After remaining at Carlisle for a time, under drill, he
went with the regiment to Murfreesboro. They reached that place just about the time
the great battle there was imminent. He was one of the noble three hundred who took
part in the engagement. During the engagement, while making a charge, he was struck
with a spent ball, and fell from his horse. Fortunately he was not noticed by the
enemy, who supposed him to be dead. Sometime after, while in the act of rising up, a
horse that was careening wildly across the battlefield, ran over him, severely
injuring him. But the next day he was again in the battle… He was seized with
typhoid fever in the latter part of March, and died in the early part of April…
