 Violet Woods Gearhart, 93, a resident of the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon
                           Valley in Philipsburg

Violet Woods Gearhart, 93, a resident of the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon
Valley in Philipsburg, formerly of Bellefonte and Philipsburg, died Tuesday,
Jan. 8, 2002, at the retirement home.
Born July 26, 1908, in West Decatur, she was a daughter of the late Thomas
Henry and Susie Wisor Smeal.
On Oct. 23, 1923, in West Decatur, she married Martin L. Woods, who died
Nov. 28, 1978.
She belonged to Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Eshbaugh of Levittown and Janet
Finnigan of rural North Philipsburg; a son, Lewis W. Woods of Bellefonte; a
sister, Belva Bish of Philipsburg; four grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a
sister, Viola Hummel; and three brothers, Harold, Woodrow and Wesley C. Smeal.
Visitation Saturday at David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. in Philipsburg.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
Forrest Bish officiating.
Burial will be in Mock's Hill Cemetery in rural West Decatur.
