Hastings, well known in this city and famous as a panther hunter, died at his home in Bellefonte, on December 29 after an illness covering a period of a year and a half. He was born April 11, 1848, the son of Thomas and Mary Gray Hastings and was the last surviving member of his family. He was a successful farmer and is credited with having shot the last panther in Pennsylvania. Nine children survive, three of whom reside in this city. Interment was made at Bellefonte.
