Nittany Medical Center, State College following a brief illness. He was born March 31, 1915 in Pennsylvania Furnace, a son of Annie (Borst) and John Henry Hillard. On June 24, 1939 in Cumberland, Md. he married Helen Louise Brown who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Marsha Louise and husband Carl Schreiver of Yorba Linda, California; two granddaughters, Amy and husband Dave Vivona of Foot Hill Ranch, California and Jill Ann and Rob Bredow of Westchester, California; five great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Zachery, Joshua Reid and Abigail and Allison, all of California. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He was a member of the Nittany Bible Church, Pennsylvania Furnace and served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 in the 773 Field Artillery Battalion led by General George Patton in Europe. He was a member of the Pine Grove VFW No. 5825 and the State College American Legion Post 245. He had been employed by Cerro Copper and Brass Inc. of Bellefonte retiring in 1980 following 30 years service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Nittany Bible Church, 461 Diebler Rd., Pennsylvania Furnace with Pastor Doug Williams. Burial will be at Graysville Cemetery, Franklin Township. Friends will be received at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Nittany Bible Church, 461 Diebler Rd., Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa. 16865.
