PLETCHER, aged 60 years. Mr. PLETCHER was for man y years a resident of this county, having been born and raised in Howard township, which remained his home until he removed to Illinois in 1861. He was a brother to Messrs. Michael and Jacob PLETCHER, who still reside in Howard Township, and also of Mrs. WEBER, wife of Balser WEBER, Esq., t he well known merchant of Howard Borough. We learn that from his early m anhood Mr. PLETCHER was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Church and died strong in the faith that his future welfare was assured. 01/14/1887 - D. B. PLETCHER, a prominent citizen of Howard Tp., died on S unday morning from an affection of the throat. 02/09/1894 - Friday - Mrs. Sarah PLETCHER, wife of Michael PLETCHER, died at her home near Howard yesterday morning (Feb 8) aged 72 years. An age d husband and five sons survive. Burial in Schencks Cemetery. 11/19/1897 - Friday - Emanuel PLETCHER died on Friday morning in Howard. He was a soldier of the late war and was 66 years 11 months and 12 days old. Burial was made in the Schenck Cemetery. He leaves one son, Edward of Brooklyn and three sisters, Miss Sarah and Mrs. Annie PETERS of Howar d, Mrs. WATZLER of Milesburg and one brother, Joseph of Eaagleville. He served under Curtin from August 1861 to August 1864. 09/03/1897 - Miss Nina PLETCHER d/o Joseph PLETCHER of Eagleville died at the home of her parents on Thursday of last week, after a short illness with typhoid fever. Deceased was only 20 years old. Her father, sister and brother were all prostrated with the same disease but they are recove ring. 12/03/1897 - Emanuel PLETCHER, his record as a solder - Emanuel PLETCHER died Nov 12, 1897 aged 67y 11m and 18d and leaves one son Edward of Brook lyn, NY, three sisters, Mrs. Annie PETERS and Miss Sara PLETCHER of Howar d and Mrs. Leah WETZLER of Milesburg; two brothers Daniel of Flemington, Clinton Co. and Joseph of Blanchard. 04/28/1899 - Daniel S. PLETCHER who died at his home in Flemington Sat. w as a native of this county. He was born near Howard, July 18, 1836 and h is early childhood was spent near that place. In 1862 he became interest ed in the woolen factory at Mill Hall and afterwards secured an interest in the woolen factory on Spring Creek, Centre Co. He remained in that bu siness until the close of the war, when he taught school for several year s near Howard. Afterwards he moved to his father's farm near Howard and in 1878 removed to his father-in-laws farm near Flemington. In 1890 he t ook possession of the property he lately occupied in Flemington. Member Mennonite Church, his father having been a minister in that church. He i s survived by wife and children: Prof Benjamin F of the faculty of Lock Haven Normal, Miss Nancy W at home, and George W. of Lamar, brother and s ister Joseph of Blanchard, Mrs. Anna PETERS and Sarah PLETCHER of Howard and Mrs. Leah WETZLER of Milesburg. In 1894 he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis and has not enjoyed good health since. Sat evening he went to the stable for some wood and later Mrs. PLETCHER went out and found hi m dead. Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon. 10/24/1902 - Mr. A. A. PLETCHER moved from Nittany on Tuesday into the ho use recently vacated by Ward DAUGHENBAUGH. 10/24/1902 - Myra, the six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey PLE TCHER died at their home in Howard on last Wednesday and was buried in th e Schenck Cemetery Friday morning. 09/16/1904 - Friday - THE SCHENCK FAMILY REUNION - Thursday of last week the annual reunion of the Schenck family was held in the grove near Howar d. About five hundred descendants of the family, as well as many others were present. An important action of the SCHENCK association at the reun ion was the decision to remove the remains of the seven bodies of the ori ginal PLETCHER family that have rested for scores of years in the Butler grave yard to the Schenck cemetery and erect over them a suitable monumen t. The bodies will be exhumed at once. Among the bodies to be removed a re those of Henry PLETCHER and wife. Mr. PLETCHER was a revolutionary so ldier and for valiant service rendered during the struggles of our forefa thers was presented by the Government at Washington with 400 acres of gro und near the present site of Howard. He took up his claim in 1796 and li ved and died a hero of those strenuous times. 03/17/1905 - Mrs. Anna WEBER, widow of the late Balsar WEBER, one of the most prominent citizens of Howard, died at her home in that place last Th ursday morning of infirmities incident to old age, she being 77 years old . Deceased was born in Howard Tp. daughter of Henry and Magdalena PLETCH ER. Member of Mennonite Church and a worthy Christian lady. Survivors: 5 children: Abram, William, John, Clara, and Mary of Howard. Services S at burial Schencks Cemetery. 03/01/1907 - Friday - Miss Sarah PLETCHER died at her home one half mile north west of Howard, on Friday, Feb 15, 1907 of acute indigestion. Dece ased was 66 years 7 months and 2 days old. She was born and raised near Howard and spent her entire life in the old homestead caring for her moth er until her death a number of years ago. Since that time she has kept h ouse for her brother Emanuel PLETCHER who was left a widower with one chi ld and went back to the old home; to which place three other brothers and one sister returned to spend their declining years, and unto them all Mi ss PLETCHER gave her gentlest and most untiring ministration. Her death was the fifth of the family to occur in the old home in a period of thirt y years. Only one brother, Joseph PLETCHER, of Blanchard, and one sister , Mrs. Lou WETZLER, of Milesburg, survive. Miss PLETCHER was the last su rviving member of the Mennonite Church, located near her old home and whi ch at one time consisted of a large membership. The funeral was held on Sunday, Feb 17. The services were in charge of Rev. Aller, of the Method ist Church, interment in the Schencks Cemetery. 01/26/1908 - Aurella Rebecca PLETCHER d/o Joseph G. died at her home in B ellwood on Friday last after several months illness with tuberculosis. S he was born at Howard and was 16 years old last Oct. She is survived by father and following brother and sister: Mrs. Harry HAWEY, Vera, Martha, Grant and Joseph. Member of Methodist Church and had hosts of friends w ho deplore her untimely death. The funeral was held on Monday morning, i nterment in Logan Valley Cem. 11/20/1908 - Miss Eliza G. PLETCHER was born near Howard, Centre Co in 18 47 and died in the Proctor Hospital, Peoria, Ill. Nov 10, 1908. d/o Dan iel and Elizabeth BAKER PLETCHER. In 1854 she removed with her parents t o Kendall Co., Ill where she has made her home ever since. In July she w ent to Chatworth, Ill to visit sister Mrs. John BRICKLEY and was taken si ck while there. An operation deemed necessary, she was removed to hospit al where she died. Survivors: three sisters and two brothers and hosts o f other relatives. She had many relatives in Centre Co who will be griev ed to learn of her death. 09/30/1910 - Following an illness of many months, Mrs. A. A. PLETCHER die d at her home at Howard last Wednesday night. Her maiden name was Julia A. ZIMMERMAN and she was born at Pine Grove Mills 58 years ago. When a g irl, her parents moved to Jacksonville and it was there she married to Mr . PLETCHER in 1878. Of their three children, two daughters survive, Mrs. Howard ROBB of Howard and Mrs. Carl T. NOLL of Pitcarin. She also leave s sister Mrs. Alma CHRISTY of Armstrong Co. Services last Sat bu rial Jacksonville 12/05/1912 - Thursday - Mabel, the wife of Hayes PLETCHER - A sad death o ccurred in Blanchard shortly after the close of Thanksgiving when the spi rit of Mabel, wife of Hayes PLETCHER, took its flight into the world beyo nd. Her death followed an illness of two years following a goiter. Besi des her husband, four children survive: Eldred, May, Calvin and Allen. The deceased was the daughter of Mr and Mrs. John BATHURST of Blanchard, who survive together with the following brothers: Thomas and Cleon at hom e; and Morris of Pittsburg. Mrs. PLETCHER was aged about 33 years and wi ll be sadly missed in the PLETCHER home, where she was the only woman hav ing made their home with the father of her husband. Interment in the Bap tist Cemetery last Sunday. 08/20/1915 - George W. PLETCHER, the well known agent for the Central RR of Penn. at Salona died very suddenly on Monday night as a result of a he morrhage of the lungs. He was in charge of the station as usual all day on Monday and retired that night in his usual health. Shortly before 2 o 'clock in the morning he was seized with a hemorrhage and rapidly lapsed into unconsciousness. A physician was summoned but death ensued in a sho rt time. Mr. PLETCHER was 45 years old and had been a resident of Salona for 18 years. As a young man he showed a marked artistic ability and in 1891 he went to Paris and studied art. Returning to this country he exe cuted some excellent paintings and finally accepted a position on the PA Grit, at Williamsport, as a staff artist. During his 4 years with that p aper his drawings attracted considerable attention. He was compelled to resign his position on account of his health and since then had lived at Salona and been agent for the Central RR of PA. He was a member of the M ethodist Church and a man highly esteemed by all who knew him. Survivors wife and son, George W., Jr., brother Prof B. F. PLETCHER of Lock Haven business institute, sister Miss Nan PLETCHER of Flemington. Service Frid ay, Burial Dunnstown Cemetery. 06/21/1918 - Henry J. PLETCHER died at his home in Howard Tp. on Sunday e vening as a result of a stroke of apoplexy, aged 80 years. He was s/o Fr ederick and Mollie PLETCHER and was born near where he died. He married Martha KLINE who died in 1885. Survivors: four children Prof F. Milford PLETCHER, Ada J., Charles and Ellis at home. He served in the 51st reg. during the Civil War and had filled offices of school director and road s upervisor. He was also a prominent Granger. Burial yesterday in Schenck Cem. 04/16/1926 - Frederick Milford PLETCHER, one of the most formidable candi dates for selection as county superintendent of public schools, passed aw ay at his home in Howard at nine o'clock last Saturday morning as the res ult of an attack of uraemic poisoning. He became ill on Tuesday of last week while teaching in the Milesburg High school but finished his work fo r the day. On Wednesday morning he felt so badly that he decided to rema in at home. His condition grew steadily worse and he died on Saturday mo rning. He was a son of Henry J. and Martha J. PLETCHER, of Howard townsh ip, and was born on the old homestead farm on November 11, 1876, making h is age 49 years, 4 months and 29 days. His boyhood life was spent on the farm, doing his share of the work during the summer and attending school in winter time. The fact that his ancestors had helped to establish the common schools in lower Bald Eagle valley, and that members of the famil y had been teachers for generations, was an inspiration to the young man to make good use of his school days and he progressed to that extent that while in his teens he tutored in some of the higher branches. Completin g his course in the common schools he secured a school in his home distri ct and taught two years. The thirst for more knowledge led him to enter the Central State Normal, at Lock Haven, where he graduated in 1899. He was promptly elected supervising principal of the Blanchard High school w here he remained eleven years, then was elected principal of the Howard H igh school. He taught there five years and in 1915 was appointed assista nt county superintendent. He filled this position for seven years and up on retiring from that office was chosen as principal of the Snow Shoe Hig h school. The next year he was elected principal of the Milesburg High s chool and was on his third year in that school. All told twenty-nine yea rs of his life had been devoted to school work. Notwithstanding his inte rest in school work he still retained his love for the farm, and just a w eek before his death he told the writer that eight of his nine sons had e ither worked for several years or are now working on farms. Believing th at good roads are a large factor in regular attendance at public schools he always took an interest in the work of the road supervisors, and at hi s death was chairman of the Centre County supervisors' association and ju st recently elected president of the State association. He was a faithfu l member of the Methodist church at Howard and teacher of the men's bible class in the Sunday school, having taught the class the Sunday before be ing taken ill. He was a member of Blanchard lodge No. 427, I.O.O.F. and the Masonic lodge of Bellefonte. On June 22, 1897 he married Miss Sylvia E. SCHENCK who survives with the following children: Mrs. Donald GARDNE R of Howard; Ralph PLETCHER of Howard,; Hazel, Cecil, Merrill, Russel, Ra ymond, Paul, Kenneth and Willard all at home, and Frederick in the U.S. A rmy stationed at Camp Lewis in the State of Washington. He also leaves o ne sister and a brother, Miss Ada PLETCHER of Lock Haven, and Ellis who m akes his home in Howard but who has employment as an engineer on a vessel on the Great Lakes and was ordered to report for service this week. Fun eral services were held in the Methodist church at Howard at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. A. Price, assisted by Rev. Smith, burial being made in the Schenck cemetery. 07/21/1927 - Henry S. PLETCHER, a Civil War veteran and a prominent resid ent of Howard, died at his home on Monday afternoon from dilation of the heart, at the age of 80 years and 5 months. Mr. PLETCHER was born in How ard Township and was a son of Michael and Susan PLETCHER. He was married to Lyda MEESE, who survives with these children: Alice, at home; Mrs. M abel C. IRVIN, of Long Horn, PA; Eugene, of Philadelphia; Emma R. of Howa rd and George R of Philadelphia. These brothers also survive: David, Na thaniel, Christian and Lynn all of near Howard. Funeral services were he ld Wednesday afternoon; interment in the Schenck cemetery. Mr. PLETCHER was retired from the New York Central force in 1917. 11/04/1927 - Nathaniel G. PLETCHER died at his home at Howard on Saturday , October 22, as the result of a stroke of paralysis sustained two weeks previous, aged 77 years. He was a native of Howard township and had live d there all his life. During his early life he followed carpentering but of late years had been engaged in farming. He was twice married, his fi rst wife having been Miss Emily MANN, of Romola. Four children, all livi ng, were the result of this union, Harry and Lewis PLETCHER of Howard tow nship; Thomas A., of Howard, and Charles of Curtin. Following the death of his first wife he married Miss Alice MILLER, of Beech Creek, who survi ves with three children, Herbert of Detroit, MI; Blair and Trena at home. He also leaves three brothers, David and Christ PLETCHER, of Howard and Linn of Howard township. Mr. PLETCHER was an elder in the church of Chr ist and the funeral services on Tuesday afternoon of last week were held in the Christian chapel. Rev. M. S. Blair, of Wellsboro was in charge an d was assisted by Revs. David Neilson and J. F. Smith. Burial was made i n the Schenck cemetery. 08/09/1928 - Edward L. PLETCHER, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday morning a t the Private Hospital Lock Haven after a long illness with a complicatio n of heart and kidney disease. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past five weeks. Mr. PLETCHER was about 60 years of age and was bor n at Howard. He had resided at Dayton for many years holding for many ye ars a responsible position with the National Cash Register Company. For the past few years, however, he has served as city clerk of Dayton. He w as a member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic bodies at Dayton. He had no immediate relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Merrill Williams Tuesday morning at the home of Councilman B. F. PLETC HER of Lock Haven. Burial in the Schenck Cemetery, Howard. Members of the Masonic order had charge of the funeral. 12/19/1930 - Mrs. Emma PLETCHER who has charge of the Junior League of th e ME Church entertained the members of the League with a special service and refreshments on Tuesday evening. 12/19/1930 - Miss Flora PLETCHER who is a graduate nurse left Thursday fo r Syracuse, NY where she will be employed for several weeks. 09/07/1933 - HOWARD COUPLE DIE WITHIN A WEEK - Mr. and Mrs. Jacob PLETCHE R would have observed golden anniversary in January - Wife succumbs after funeral of husband - Virtually on the eve of their golden wedding annive rsary a highly respected elderly Howard couple passed away within five da ys of each other. Jacob Linn PLETCHER died at 8:30 o'clock on Wednesday evening of last week after an illness with a complication of diseases and his wife Laura Amelia HOLTER PLETCHER passed away at 4 o'clock on Monday morning. She had been in failing health for some time and the shock of her husband's death hastened the end. Mr. and Mrs. PLETCHER were united in marriage on January 16, 1894, and had they lived until the coming Janu ary would have observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. PLETCHER was a son of Michale and Susan HOLTER PLETCHER and was born at Howard on May 10, 1859, hence was aged 74 years 3 months and 20 days. Some time ago o ne of his legs became infected and six weeks ago he went to the Lock Have n hospital where the member was amputated. Complications arising from th e infection and operation were given as the cause of his death. He lived all his life and died in the same house, which was built by his father. Mr. PLETCHER had been a member of the Fairview Evangelical church for th e past 44 years and also was an active member of the Howard Grange, No. 2 97. Funeral services ere held on Sunday from the church in charge of Rev . W. E. Yingling and Rev. J. F. Winklebleck. Interment was made in Howar d. Mrs. PLETCHER, too, was a native of Howard, having been born there 71 years 9 months and 10 days ago. She was a daughter of Benjamin F. and M ollie HOUSER HOLTER. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Evangel ical church of which she had been a lifelong member. Services were condu cted by the pastor; Rev. W. E. Yingling assisted by the Rev. Mr. Winklebl eck and interment was made beside the grave of her husband. Mr. and Mrs. PLETCHER are survived by the following children: Sallie A. MILLER of Bl anchard; Irene M. PLETCHER, Oscar M. PLETCHER of Howard; Michael H. PLETC HER of Lancaster; Josephine M. SCHENCK and Rosella PLETCHER of Howard, an d five grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. In addition, Mr. PLETCH ER is survived by a brother, Christian H. PLETCHER of Howard, and Mrs. PL ETCHER is survived by two brothers and four sisters: Ambrose HOLTER of Cl intondate; Elmer and Fannie HOLTER of Williamsport; Mary HOLTER of Roarin g Springs; Maggie KANE of Howard, and Sue HOUSTON of Roaring Springs. Un til ill health prevented him from working, Mr. PLETCHER had tilled the fa rm on which he and his wife had lived all their lives. They were well kn own and well liked in the Howard vicinity. 04/06/1933 - Mrs. Alice F. PLETCHER, widow of Nathaniel PLETCHER died at her home near Howard, Wednesday, of last week following a lingering illne ss of heart trouble. She was born in Beech Creek, 76 years ago. Survivi ng are a daughter, Trenna B. PLETCHER, and two sons, Herbert R. and Blair M. PLETCHER, all of Howard; the following step-sons: H. O. PLETCHER, P. A. PLETCHER, and Lewis PLETCHER, all of Howard; C. L. PLETCHER of Bellefo nte; three grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandch ildren. She is also survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs . Mary HOLTER of Howard; Mrs. Addie CRISPIN of California, PA; Lewis MILL ER of Beech Creek; Oscar MILLER of Punxutawney; Mrs. Mattie PLETCHER of C onneaut; Mrs. Blanche CANDY of Tyrone. Burial was made Sunday afternoon in the Schenck Cemetery. 11/12/1936 - Services for Mrs. Alma PLETCHER wife of Thomas PLETCHER, of Howard, who died last Thursday morning in the Lock Haven Hospital where s he had been a patient for almost a week were held in the Howard Methodist church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. M. F. Morris pastor of the church officiating. Burial was made in the Schenck cemetery. Mrs. PLETCHER was born at Howard, May 7, 1880, a daughter of William and Lucy SCHENCK, bot h deceased. She is survived by her husband, Mrs. George LOUTH of Lock Ha ven and Miss Alma PLETCHER at home. The following brothers and sisters a lso survive: Mrs. Melvin SCHENCK, Clearfield; Mrs. Albert CODER, Nittany ; Mrs. Sue TICE, Mrs. Earl CONFER, Mrs. Harry Oouter, Mrs. Howard KLINE, all of Howard Foster and George SCHENCK both of Blanchard. One sister Mr s. Blanche JOHNSON preceded her in death. Two grandchildren survive. W ell known in Howard, Mrs. PLETCHER was an active member of the Howard Met hodist Episcopal church as well as being interested in all civic affairs. She was a member of the P.O.S. A. and the Howard grange. 12/24/1936 - Mrs. Eliza PLETCHER, Howard's oldest resident died at her ho me at 9 o'clock Wednesday night, of last week following a week's illness caused by pleurisy and a heart ailment. She was 84 years, 11 months and 8 days old at the time of her death. Mrs. PLETCHER was born one mile eas t of Howard January 8, 1852 a daughter of George and Elizabeth WELLS MEAS E, both now deceased, and when a young girl moved with her family to Mile sburg on a canal boat. She was married, January 16, 1872 to H. Shuman PL ETCHER, who died in 1927. She had been an active member of the Howard Me thodist church for 72 years. She leaves the following children: Mrs. Emm a CASEMAN, Sullivan County; Miss Alice PLETCHER and George PLETCHER both of Philadelphia; Eugene of New York.. 07/13/1939 - Christian H. PLETCHER, retired carpenter and Howard's second oldest resident died at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at the Teah Hospital , Lock Haven, where he had been undergoing treatment since Saturday after noon. Death was attributed to a complication of diseases incident to adv anced years. Mr. PLETCHER, a son of Michael and Susan HOLTER PLETCHER, w as born in Howard township on May 3, 1854 making his age at time of death 85 years, 2 months and 9 days. He was united in marriage with Silence TAYLOR, who passed away about 8 years ago. Surviving are these children: Asbury, Fred V. and Marion PLETCHER, and Mrs. A. D. GLEDHILL, all of Ho ward; Mrs. Susan MARTIN of Lancaster; Miss Flora PLETCHER of Brooklyn, N Y; Irvin B., Turtle Creek, and Mrs. Edith BENNISON of Indianapolis, IN. Mr. PLETCHER was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral arrang ements had not been completed last night, but interment is to be made in the Schenck cemetery, Howard. 07/14/1939 - Christian H PLETCHER, lifelong resident of Howard, died at t he Teah hospital, Lock Haven, at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning, as the r esult of general debility. A son of Mr and Mrs Michael PLETCHER he was b orn in Howard township and was 85 years old on May 2nd. A carpenter by o ccupation he was a member of the Methodist church and had served on the H oward borough council. He married Silence TAYLOR, who died some years ag o, but surviving him are eight children, namely: Mrs. Roy MARTIN, of Lanc aster; Miss Flora, Brooklyn, NY; Mrs A D GLEDHILL, Asbury T, Fred V and T Marion PLETCHER, all of Howard; Irvin B of Turtle Creek, and Mrs Edith B ENNISON of Indianapolis, Ind. 12/23/1943 - Mrs. Joseph G. PLETCHER - Mrs. Bessie PLETCHER, wife of Jose ph G. PLETCHER, of Bellwood, died Dec 1, 1943, at Brougeville, PA while v isiting the home of a stepson, Joseph PLETCHER. Death was attributed to a crebral hemorrhage. She was born March 29, 1875, at Alexandria, Huntin gdon county, d/o George and Mary (McCOMBS) ESTEP. Mrs. PLETCHER was prev iously married to John H. McGLINSEY who died in 1931. Six children of th at union survive, two brothers, a sister and a half-brother. Mrs. PLETCH ER married Joseph G. PLETCHER in 1935 and he survives with the following step-children: Mrs. Elvira KENNEDY of Bellwood; Mrs. H. T. HARVEY, of Mi llvale; Mrs. Job BOWERS of Altoona; Grant C. PLETCHER of Crete, Ill., and Joseph D. PLETCHER at whose home she died. Also five grandchildren, two of them being in the service in the South Pacific. Member of Bellwood M ethodist Church. 10/19/1944 - Mrs. Maude WELSH PLETCHER, 75, a native of Mill Hall, died a t her Chevy Chase home in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 1, after a long illnes s. d/o Hepburn WELSH and Amanda BEST WELSH was born in Mill Hall in 1868 . She is survived by her husband, Sergius S. PLETCHER, a native of Howar d, PA, a dau. Mrs. Dwight Goldwin HOWERTH and granddaughter Shirley Clair e HOWERTH all of Washington, two sisters. Mrs. PLETCHER spent her girlho od on a large farm bordering Mill Hall and went to Washington when she ma rried Mr. PLETCHER in 1899. He preceded her there in 1895 at which time he entered the service of the U.S. Treasury Department, spending 42 years in government service. For years the PLETCHERS spent there summers in C entre County where the family has many friends. She was member of the Gu nton-Temple Memorial Presybterian church in Washington. Her nephew, the Rev. PLETCHER, son of Hayes PLETCHER of Blanchard , was inducted into the Army in October, 1943. He received this training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, then enjoyed a seven day furlough at home befo re going overseas in March, 1944. He arrived in Africa and two weeks lat er moved into Italy where he was in action until he helped to make the in vasion of Southern France and is believed to be in that locality at prese nt. PLETCHER was employed by the Gene ral Refractories at Orviston. 04/1946 - Mrs. Mary HOLTER SCHENCK, one of the oldest residents of the Ho ward area, died at her home near Howard on Tuesday, 30 Apr 1946 at the ag e of 90 years, 2 months and 27 days. She was a daughter of Jacob and Cat herine PLETCHER HOLTER and was born in Howard township on 3 Feb 1856. On 27 Dec 1874, she was married to Bower SCHENCK who died some years ago. Surviving are two children Charles SCHENCK of Howard, R.D. and Mrs. Ellis PLETCHER of Howard; a brother Shuman HOLTER, aged 95 of Elmira NY; 5 gr- ch and 4 gr-gr-ch. Burial in Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven. 04/17/1983 - Dr. Donald M. PLETCHER, 62, of Louisville, KY., formerly of Howard, died April 13. He was born in Beech Creek on May 16, 1920, a son of Frederick and Sylvia MILLER PLETCHER. On July 20, 1944 he married Ma y McCORMICK of Bowling Green, KY., who survives. Also surviving are a so n, Michael of Louisville and a grandson. Dr. PLETCHER graduated from How ard High School in 1938, from Lock Haven State College in 1948 and from t he Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1950. Death of Miss Sarah PLETCHER - Miss Sarah PLETCHER who has been a residen t of the community the past 40 years died last Friday morning at her home very suddenly while sitting in her chair of heart trouble. She was a l ady who had many friends, a good christian, one who always behaved it, li ving up to the golden rule and by her actions has made many friends who w ill be pained to hear of her death. On Wednesday night at 11:00 the death angel entered the PLETCHER home in Howard Tp. and took hence th e mother who had lived to the ripe old age of 84 years and three months. Mrs. PLETCHER was the widow of David B PLETCHER who had crossed the rive r of death about 17 years ago. She had been ill only about two weeks wit h pneumonia, she will be greatly missed by her neighbors and many friends .
