Osman, one of the oldest residents of Centre county and veteran of the Civil war, died at his home, near Pine Hall on Jan. 24, death resulting from pneumonia. He was the son of David and Margaret Fulton Osman and was born at the Old Monroe Furnace on Jan. 12, 1846. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted in Company C, 148th regiment of Regulars. He was engaged in several of the fiercest battles of the Virginia campaign and was wounded severely. On Sept. 12, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah McCormick. Their entire married life was spent at Pine Hall. Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. H. G. Bloom, Centre Line; Mrs. Gertrude Sankey, Cheney, Washington; Mrs. C. M. Fry, Mrs. Theodore Ritchey, Altoona; J. Shannon, at home. Nine grandchildren survive and two brothers, Jeffe [Jesse], a retired Pennsy employe at Altoona, and John H. of State College. The deceased was a member of the Lutheran church at Pine Hall. The funeral services were held on Jan. 28 from the Lutheran church with interment at Pine Hall cemetery.
