Seeger Sr., Port Matilda, died Saturday at 9:40 a.m. in the Mountainview Unit of Centre Community Hospital, State College, following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 19, 1901, at Altoona, the son of Michael F. and A. Lina (Larmier) Seeger. He was married April 6, 1931, at Pittsburgh, to Rachel Leitzell, and had been a resident of Port Matilda for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. W. D. (Nancy) Hale Sr., of York; three sons, Gerald C. Seeger Jr., Warriors Mark; H. Roy Seeger and Alan K. Seeger, both of Port Matilda; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Freda Bland, Columbus, Ohio; Margaretta Goheen, Buffalo, N.Y.; Detlef E. Seeger and W. Fred Seeger, both of New Castle; P. Larmier Seeger, Levittown, and E. Nevin Seeger, Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Tyrone. He was a Past Exalted Ruler and life member of Tyrone Elks Lodge 212, a member of F&AM 700, State College, AAONMS, Jaffa Temple AASR Valley of Altoona 32, Centre County Shrine Club, and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Lodge 574; a charter member of Port Matilda Sportsman Association, member of the Port Matilda Fire Company, member of the Port Matilda Planning Commission, a Democratic Committeeman of Port Matilda, and a former member of Troop B, 104th Cavalry, Pennsylvania National Guard in Tyrone. He was retired, after 43 years service, as a passenger conductor with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, with the Rev. Vance N. Clark officiating. Interment will be made in Gray's Cemetery Port Matilda RD.
