All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/centre/ _______________________________________________ MARTHA CONSTANCE WILLS Martha Constance Wills, 91, a resident of State College and more recently of Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at Centre Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept. 23, 1911 in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Laura Eckert Sprankle. In 1933, she married George O. Wills, who died on Feb. 12, 1980. She graduated from Tyrone High School. In 1948, she began work as a records clerk at the Pennsylvania State University, retiring in 1973. Following retirement, she was a volunteer at Centre Community Hospital, the Fairways at Brookline Village and a member of The State College Christian Women's Club. Martha was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher for many years at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills. She enjoyed the music of "The Big Bands" of the 30s and 40s, liked to knit, paint in oils, travel and enjoyed wearing hats. She played an active role in her grandchildren's lives and was always interested in family activities. Surviving are two children, a son, George "Mike" Wills of State College and a daughter, Constance Anne Harpster of PA Furnace; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, an infant daughter, a brother and four sisters preceded her in death. She was the last of her generation. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Kock Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the funeral home with Pastor John Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park in College Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to The John Keller Sprankle Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, Saint Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 200, Pine Grove Mills, PA 16868.
