All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ********************************************************* Jonathan Garrett born in Goshen Township, Pa. By Robert E. Seeley 4th great-grandson Jonathan Garrett is the son of Jonathan Garrett and Hannah Brinton. Jonathan married Ruth Baker, daughter of Aaron Baker and Ruth Taylor. of Upper Providence. Jonathan was a blacksmith and was living up the road from Goshen in Sugartown, Willistown Township, Pa. They had two children Anna Maria born March 11, 1808, who later would marry Jones Wright, and Jonathan Brinton, born September 2, 1809, who would later marry Elizabeth A. Pyle. Jonathan Garrett was killed in 1809 from a kick, while attempting to shoe the horse of Col. John Harris. Abner and Nathan Garrett were appointed administrators of the estate in the January 31, 1810 estate papers. On January 9, 1810 James Garrett brother of Jonathan, petitioned the courts for guardianship of the two small children, Anna Maria and Jonathan Garrett. Ruth did remarry at a later date Cornelius Wright a shoemaker from Media, Pa. and the father of Jones Wright that married Anna Maria Garrett. Jones Wright was also a shoe and boot dealer and Ruth's son Jonathan Brinton Garrett also became a shoe and boot dealer in West Chester area. William Garrett Wright, son of Anna Maria Garrett and Jones Wright followed in the business of shoe and boot dealer. Also Jonathan Garrett and Elizabeth Atwood's adopted daughter, Clara Derrickson married George Brinton , who succeeded his father-in-laws in the business of shoes and boots. I guess after the death of Jonathan, the blacksmith, by the kick from the horse of Col. Harris, his family thought it must have been safer to deal in shoes for people. Cornelius Wright, Ruth Baker, Anna Maria Garrett, Jones Wright, and William Garrett are buried in Media Cemetery in the family plot with other members of my family.
