Their eldest son, George, b. 10-4-1690, m. Mary, widow of Alexander Stewart, dau. of Joel and Ann Baily, and settled on the Brandywine in what is now Newlin township. Their son Joel, b. 11-10-1724; d. 9-3-1796; m. 10-17-1746, at Kennet Meeting, Hannah Wickersham, b. 5-5-1723; d. 12-15-1811; dau. of Thomas and Abigail Wickersham of East Marlborough. They had children Dinah, Ruth, Mary, Caleb (m. Hannah Edwards), Joshua and Joel. Joel Harlan Sr., had 260 acres of land in Newlin which by will he divided between his sons, Caleb and Joel. The last named inherited the old home and continued to reside there.
