Adams late of West Fallowfield Deced. 18 Sept 1787 Allow’ & confirmed. Pursuant to the within order I Rebecca Adams therein named do humbly make know and certify that I have exposed the messuage lands and premises therein described to public sale having given due and legal Notice of the time and place- Thereof. Upon the Sixth day of April Anno Domino 1787 did sell the same to William Heslet Esq. For the sum of four hundred Pounds he being the highest & best bidder & that being the greatest & best price bidden for the same. Rebeckah Adams And we being present at the said sale have as witnesses there unto set our hands— James Adams next signature unreadable Chester County, SS AT AN ORPHANS COURT held and kept at Chester for the county of Chester the twenty fifth Day of March Annoque Domini 1785. Before John Pearson Esq; and his Brethren Justices present. WHERE AS, Rebecca Adams, Adminstratrix oof all and singular the Goods and Chattles, Rights and Credits which were of William Adams late of West Fallowfield in the County lately died Intestate, the Letters of Administration o his Estate were in due Form of Law granted to her the said Rebecca at Chester in the county aforesaid on the day of __ Anno dominis 17__ and that the said William Adams was in his Life time and at the Time of his Decease (amongst other things) Owner of A certain tract there or parcel of land situate lying of being in West Fallowfield township aforesaid beginning at a Corner Marked Black Oak then in by the great Road & from the next extending by the said road north rightly ? Dodgeer West eighty five perches to a post thence south by Joseph Adams land sixteen Perches to another pond and west twenty perches and a half to another post thence south by the said Joseph Adams land thirty six perches to a post and west six perches and a quarter to a post and south one hundred & twelve perches to a post in a laid out & confirmed road thence north fifty one degrees east by the Siad road eighty four perches to another post. Hence north by David Masewoth? Land thirteen perches to another post & east by north ninety perches to a corner marked Black Oak then north by Alexander Wilson seventy eight perches to the place of beginning containing the hundred acres and the allowance of six acres for roads and highways to the same more or less within the bounds & limits aforesaid- and left a Widow and four Children to survive him. And whereas it is also made appear to this Court by the Records remaining in the Register General’s Office at Chester aforesaid that the said Administratrix hath exhibited there and to this Court a true and perfect Inventory and conscionable, Appraisement of the said Intestate’s personal Estate amounting to the Sum of three hundred pounds and upwards and by an Account here likewise exhibited by the said Administratrix on her solemn oath it appears that she hath paid in Debts the sum of___ and that there is yet due by the said Intestate the sum of Three hundred and thrity six pounds and upward which is ___ more than the said Intestates personal Estate will extend to pay. AND WHEREAS this Court is given to understand that the said Messuage or Tenement Land and premises are not contained in any Marriage Settlement, and it manifestly appearing to the Court here that the said Intestates personal Estate will not be sufficient to pay his Debts and maintain his Children; THEREFORE upon the Application and Request of the said Rebecca Adams administratrix it is allowed and Ordered by this Court pursuant to Law, that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Rebecca Adams Administratrix aforesaid to sell and convey all the aforesaid Messuage or tenement tract of land & premises with appurtenances. To such Person or Persons as may be wiling to purchase the same in fee, simple or otherwise and whit the Money raised by the Sale thereof to pay so much of the said Intestates Debts as his personal estate will fall short to satisfy and to apply the Residue thereof for the Maintenance and Advantage of the said Children as this Court for the Time being shall think fit to order and direct, and that the said Rebecca Adams bring her proceedings hereunto next Court on her solemn oath.
