John Pugh vs John McCurdy, 1755 COMMON PLEAS COURT (Age about 55) Chester County Court House, West Chester, PA Common Pleas Court Chester County to wit, May Term 1755 John McCurdy late of Chester County Yeoman otherwise Called John McCordey of Londonderry in the County of Chester and Province of Pennsylvania Cordwinder was Sumoned to Answer John Pugh of a Plea that he render him Twenty one pounds Lawfull money of Pennsylva w to him he owes & Unjustly detains & And Whereupon He & John Pugh saith That Whereas the afd John McCurdy the thirteenth day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty four at Chester in the County of by his certain Waiting Obligatory did Grant himself to be held & firmly bound to the sd John Pugh in the twenty one pounds to be paid to the sd John Pugh when he should be afterwards thereunto required nevertheless He & John McCurdy altho often thereunto required the afd twenty one pounds to the said John Pugh hath not rendered but the same to him to render hath denyed & still doth deny Whereupon the sd John Pugh saith he is Worse & hath Damage to the Value of Ten pounds & thereupon he brings this suit and brings here into Court the Writing obligatory afd as the Debt afd in form afd doth Testify whose date is the same day & year abovesaid.
