Nathanial Savage's
Petition for Store License, W Vincent, 4/29/1843
 
To the Honorable Judges of the Court of Quarter Sessions for the County of 
Chester, the petition of Nathanial Savage respectfully showeth:
 
That your petitioner occupies a large and commodious house, situated in the 
Township of West Vincent, where he is desirous of keeping a store, and selling 
spirituous liquors, in quantities of one quart or more.  He therefore prays your 
Honors to grant him a license for that purpose, according to an Act of Assembly, 
in such cases made and provided.

We the undersigned citizens of the township of West Vincent, do hereby certify 
that the said Nathanial Savage is of good repute for temperance and honesty, and 
that a license granted to him for the sale of spirituous liquors, will be a 
convenience to the public.   We therefore beg leave to recommend him for a 
license, agreeably to his petition.

gr3grandfather Zenas SAVAGE.  In the 1880 Census, a few years before he died,  
he was living in the Village of Snowdenville, Chester Co, Pottstown, a retired 
merchant with his wife Esther - nee Smith)
