Written: April 2, 1841

To the President and Associate Judges of the  Court of Quarter-Sessions of the 
Peace,for the County of Chester.
The petition of the Jones Sheneman respectfully showeth:
That the petitioner occupies a commodious house situate in the township of East 
Town in the said county of Chester which is calculated for a Public House of 
Entertainment, and from its neighborhood and situation, is suitable for the 
accomodation of the inhabitants and travelers, that he is provided with 
stabling for horses, and all conveniences nesessary for the Entertainment of 
Strangers and Travelers; that the licenses to the said house is about to 
expire - he therefore honorably prays the court to grant him a licence to keep 
an Inn or Public House of Entertainment there.
And your petitioner, &c.

We, the undersigned citizens of the said township of Easttown Township and that 
we are personally and well acquainted with Jones Sheneman, the petitioner above 
named and also having a knowledge of the house for which the license is prayed, 
do hereby certify that the said Inn or Tavern is necessary to accomodate the 
public, and entertain strangers and travelers, and that he is of good repute 
for honesty and temperance, that he is well provided with house room and 
convenience for lodging and accommodation of strangers and travelers.
