Family Tree Maker CD 213, The Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, Disk 2, Volume XXVIII, Two Everett Families of Northampton County, p. 143 By 1740 John Everett of Lynn Township, Northampton County, actually had come to Pennsylvania (with his father Thomas) from Long Island, not Rhode Island. Several researchers have stated that John was the son of Thomas Everett and his wife Bathsheba Sands, who was born at Sands Point, Long Island, daughter of james and mary (Cornell) Sands, and that Thomas and Bathsheba had issue “John, Thomas, Sarah, and Elizabeth.” No vital statistics have been discovered by this compiler for Bathsheba or for any of these children but there is a baptismal record, in Jamaica, Long Island, 24 January 1723, for James Everett son of Thomas and Bathsheba. When his will was drawn, 21 September 1730, James Sands named sons Othniel, James, John and Abijah, “my daughters Mary, Zerviah, Jerusha and Sarah” and willed “10 pounds to my granddaughter Sarah Everett.” Since there is no mention of Bathsheba, she was presumably deceased at that time. Abijah and John Sands, brothers of Bathsheba, “removed to Montgomery County (adjoining Amity, Berks County), in Pennsylvania, ca. 1732. Thomas Everett’s only known record in Pennsylvania was 12 November 1740, when Thomas Everett of Amity, Philadelphia (now Berks) County, yeoman, “in consideration of 110 pounds, mortgaged to John Banfield of the same place, carpenter, a tract in Amity (near Douglassville),…containing 136 acres.” Satisfaction of the above deed was entered at Philadelphia, 17 November 1743, with no name of wife mentioned. A 1734 tax list of Amity Township dos not include the name of Everett nor does the next extant list, dated 1752-53. And the name of Everett doew not appear on early cemetery inscriptions of the Amity Lutheran Church. Among many references were: Malcolm Sands Wilson, The Sands Family , 1949 NY Berks Co.
