We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** A John Townsend, son of William and Mary, of Buckleberry, Berkshire, England, was born in 1684, married Martha Wooderson in 1710, and came to the Concord MM in 1715, and he was a member of the Chester MM by 1720. He was a weaver by trade and bought a tract of 800 acres in East Bradford, where he settled. He died in 1766 and his wife in 1767, both buried at Birmingham. Their children were Wm 1711-1792 unmarried; Mary 1713-1792 m. Henry Woodward; Joseph 1715-1759 m. Lydia Reynolds; John 1716-1803 m. Joanna England; Hanna m. Nathan Sharples and Charles Ryant; Martha 1721-1748; Richard 1727-1738; Esther 1727-1728-9. John Jr received portion of his father's land...left 5 children Francis, Benjamin, Esther, Joseph, and Elizabeth. Francis married Rachel Talbot, 1762 and had children; Joseph,Samuel. Lydia, John, Benjamin, Hannah, Jacob, Isaac, Talbot, Rachel. In 1786, Francis and his brother Benjamin and their families moved to the Redstone settlement, in the western part of PA. The meeting was called the Westlake MM, in Washington Co, PA, originated in 1785....John and Benjamin were early members...this area adjoined portions of (W)Va, in the northern panhandle area (Wheeling).. in 1786 Benjamin and his wife Jamima, with children Benj. Mary and Martha rocf from the Concord MM (PA). Francis and children Benj, Jacob, Isaac, ? did the same. ( There are many notations of the Townsends in the Westlake MM records.)
