From the PA ARCHIVES....Aug. 13, 1747...a petition to lay out the road
from Cogs Creek bridge to Chester Bridge...and for repairing the highway.

In August of  1747, the following men signed a petition to the President and 
Council of the Province of PA, requesting a survey for a road leading from 
Philadelphia to Chester;

In Sept of that same  year, the Council appointed the following men (or any 5 of 
them) to lay out the road from "the division line which parts Philadelphia 
county from Chester county to the limits of the county of New Castle."
