We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** from THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA, by Futhey and Cope (1881); Valley Twp was formed in 1852, by decree of court, from parts of the twps of West Caln, West Brandywine, East Caln, and Sadsbury, the larger part of its territory being taken from the last 2 twps with the village of Coatesville in about the enter of it. It was reduced in size first by the incorporation of the borough of Coatesville in 1867, and next by the erection of the new township of Caln in 1868, which later included all of Valley twp east of Coatesville. The twp is now only about 1/2 of its original size.
