Whereas the said William Patterson in and by a certain obligation of writing obligation under his hand and Seal Duly Executed Bearing even date herewith stands bound unto the said John Mecham in the sum of Seventy nine pounds Lawfull money of Pennsylvania conditioned for the payment of Thirty nine pounds Ten shillings of like Lawfull money on the Twenty seventh day of November In the year of our lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two with lawfull Interest for the same without any fraud or further delay as in and by the said Obligation and Condition thereof Relation thereunto being had may fully appear. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said William Patterson for and in consideration of the aforesaid Debt or sum of Thirty nine pounds ten shillings and for the better securing the payment thereof with its interest unto the said John Mechem his Executor administrators and assigns in discharge of the said Recited Obligation and for & in Consideration of the further Sum of five shillings to him in hand well and truly paid by the said John Mechem at and before the Sealing and Delivery thereof the Receipt of which said five shillings whereby acknowledged hath Granted Bargained Sold Released & Confirmed and by these Presents Doth, Grant Bargain Sell Release and Confirm unto the said John Mechem and to his Heirs and Assigns a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate in the Township of Goshen County & Provence aforesaid Beginning at a Spanish oak in a line of the land late of David Davis, thence North Twenty five degrees west thirty perches to a Chesnut, Thence North Sixty five Degrees East fifty eight perches by Samuel Oakes' Settlement to a Spanish Oak, Thence North Three Degrees West Seventeen perches to a Spanish Oak thence North Sixty five degrees East Eighty perches to a post, thence by John Heald's Settlement South Three degrees East Sixty two perches to a post. Thence West South West by the said land late of David Davis seventy two Perches to a maple, Thence North twenty degrees West Six perches and a half to a Maple, Thence West South West fifty perches to the Beginning Spanish Oak. Containing Thirty five acres & seventy two perches of land be it more or less ( It being the same Land & Premises that Joseph Wray and Ann his Wife by their Indenture dated the fourteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy one Did Grant & Convey unto the said William Patterson his Heirs and Assigns forever) Together with all and Singular the Buildings, Gardens, Orchards, Meadows, Woods, Ways, Waters, Water Sources, Rights, Liberties, Privileges, Improvements, Hereditaments and Appurtenances Whatsoever thereto- Belonging or in anywise Appertaining and the Reversions and Remainders and Issues of Profits thereof, To Have & to hold the said Thirty five acres and Seventy two perches of Land hereditaments & Premises hereby Granted or Mentioned so to be and all and every part thereof with the Appurtenances unto the said John Mechem his heirs and Assigns forever Provided always nevertheless that if the said William Patterson his Executors Administrators or Assigns or either of them do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Mechem his Executor Administrator or assigns the aforesaid Debt or Sum of Thirty nine pounds ten shillings on the day and time herein before mentioned and appointed for payment thereof together with the Full and Lawful Interest thereof according to the Conditions of the said Recited Obligation without any fraud or further delay and without any Deduction Defalcation or abatement to be made for or in Respect of any Taxes Charges or assessments or any other matter or anything whatsoever, that then and from thence forth as well this present Indenture and all the Estate hereby Granted as also the said Recited Obligation shall cease Determine and become Void anything herein before Contained to the Contrary thereof in anywise Notwithstanding. In Witness whereof the said Parties to these presents have Interchangeably set their hands and Seals hereunto Dated the day and Year first above Written William Patterson, Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us Robert Rushton (?) Alice Patterson [her mark] Before me Henry Hale Graham Esq. one of the justices for Chester County came the above named William Patterson and acknowledged the above Indenture to be his act and Deed Duly Executed and desired that the same might be Recorded as Such Witness my hand & Seal this ninth day of June Anno Domini: one thousand seven Hundred and seventy two.
