War William Whitcraft was Private in company commanded by Capt. DARBY of the Reg. commanded by Cl. Hunsun ? in the (state of ) Delaware. served 8 months as Private. Paid 26.66 March 4, 1831 Dec. 10, 1832 Application Chester Co. Pa.-William Whitcraft resident of Twp. of London Brittain in above county and state - aged 88years. He was born in London Brittain Twp., Chester Co. Pa. in yr. 1746-no record of age but from info received from his father. Between July 1, 1776 and 1780 (thinks 1776) he enlisted for 1 year with Capt. Darby in Newark or New Castle in State of Delaware... marched Trenton ... (this is very readable, but I did not copy all the places he served). Wm. Whitcraft says he is 86 years of age (in this place) John Whitcraft attests that he is acquainted with him well and says he is 80-86 years of age and a Rev. Soldier.
