The home was tastefully decorated and the couple whose smiling faces and bright eyes belied the seventy years of their pilgrimage, sat beneath a golden canopy, amid ferns and received the congratulations of their many friends. The effect of the canopy was produced by a gracefully arrangement of Yellow crepe paper. Beautiful calla lilies also figured as floral decorations. The “bride’s cake”, flowered and dated, was a pronounced feature of the attractive table where hospitality was dispensed with a liberal hand. The gifts were numerous, useful and pretty. Some gold figured on the gift table, giving an appropriate touch to the kindly tokens given by friends. The reception lasted from two to nine and was enjoyed by everyone. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton have been residents of West Grove twenty years or more. They stand in the community for integrity and are beloved by many. As neighbors, they are kindly and obliging and given to many good works. Mr. Clayton and one son, Clifford Clayton, are florists, and the flowers that have gone to brighten sick rooms, sent by Mrs. Clayton’s forethought and generosity have bee innumerable. “Say it with flowers” has been her fixed habit of expressing her gentle sympathy for the sick. In private rooms in hospitals, bright blossoms expressive of her remembrance have bloomed by beds of pain. Elwood Clayton, the oldest of two sons, is a prominent storekeeper at West Grove. He and his wife have been zealous to make this golden wedding stand out as a shining memory not to be forgotten. Among those present were Josiah J Clayton, Annie M. Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Walton E.
