F. B. Speakman and wife of Coatesville were surprised on Friday evening of last week, by a party of relatives and friends who called suddenly and unexpectedly upon them at about eight o'clock in the evening. The party was comprised of the Coatesville Presbyerian Church. The evening marked the twenty fifth wedding or silver anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Speakman and they had contend to allow the occasion to pass quietly by. But imagine their surprise when the guest came pouring in upon them! Still greater was when the Rev. Mr. Rogers step forward adn in a neat little speech in which he wished the happy twain joy at least another quarter of a century, presented them with a magnificent siler table service of many pieces, a gift from the party. A number of other rich and costly represnting the special rememberance of relatives and friends not present, and in such numbers that the top of the piano was literally covered and heaped with costly and elegant gifts. Colonel Speakman, although considerably overcome by suprise,responed to the presentation remarks, in a fitting and happy matter. An evening of general enjoyment then followed by , and at 10 o'clock the visitors took charge of the dining room and soon had the table laden with refreshment they had brought with them, of which all partook. The party had met earlier at the residence of A.D. Harlan and everything was conducted so privately that the suprised did not even suspect the object of their friends.
