Clinton K. Mosteller, Justice of the Peace, of West Vincent Township, was very agreeably surprised last evening. It was the fortieth anniversary of his birthday, and his family and friends planned a little scheme by which they should make him aware of the esteem and high regard, which is entertained for him by a large circle of neighbors and acquaintances. The committee in charge consisted of his daughter Iva and his nephew and niece, James B. and Maggie Mosteller, It was arranged that the guest should meet at James Mosteller's store about a quarter of a mile away, at 7:45 LAST EVENING, AND PROCEEDED IN A BODY TO THE RESIDENCE OF "Squire Mosteller. About 175 persons assembled in response to the invitations and accompanied by the Crescent Orchestra, of Kimberton, twelve piece, proceeded to carry out the plans of the committee. The good-natured 'Squire was considerably taken aback when he saw such a company of his friends crowding in upon him. The 'Squire had been one of a company of ten who went fishing yesterday, and the catch of the entire party consisted of three minnows. Disqusted with his bad luck he had come home and was just explaining how it came that the fish didn't bite when the invading army was discovered to have already invested the house, and every avenue of escape was cut off. The 'Squire surrendered unconditionally, and a good time was enjoyed by all present. The guest came well laden with provisions, and after spending the evening in a pleasant way socially, the dining room was resorted to, and a fine setout was spread by the ladies of the party. There was nobody missing as refreshments were served, and after all were helped there was abundance over. At a late hour the company separated. Everybody wished the 'Squire many happy returns of the day, and all took their departure filled with satisfaction at the consciousness of an esteemed friend and neighbor. Many of those present brought valuable gifts, and the list of presents would be a long one. These 'Squire Mosteller has as lasting reminders of the occasion, and all of them will be treasured by him in time to come. THOSE PRESENT The following is a partial list of those present: Rev. J.
